Veterans Day Ceremony and Luncheon
Nov 11 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Join Fort Laurens Museum as we honor the sacrifices of veterans, both past and present, in this intimate wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot. The program includes an honor and color guard, a keynote speaker, and the wreath laying ceremony held at 11am. Immediately following the ceremony, a lunch provided by of the Friends of Fort Laurens will occur. This event is free and open to the public.

The Speaker Series returns in November with “One Holy Night- The Christmas Truce of World War I.” This will be a first person presentation by Chris Hart.

Winter Encampment

Soldiers from the Brigade of the American Revolution celebrate the 240th Anniversary of the march from Fort Pitt to Fort Laurens with a parade and winter encampment.

The Speaker Series returns on March 16, 2019 at 11am with Alan Fitzpatrick giving a talk on the Seige of Fort Henry, 1782.

The Speaker Series is free and open to the public and will take place in the Fort Laurens Museum Auditorium.

The Speaker Series returns on April 20, 2019 at 11am with William Hunt giving a first person presentation of 18th century figure, John Montour.

The Speaker Series is free and open to the public and will take place in the Fort Laurens Museum Auditorium.

Revolutionary War School Day @ Fort Laurens Museum
May 3 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Join us for Revolutionary War School Day on Friday, May 3, 2019. This event is in partnership with Archbishop Hoban High School. This event focuses on Revolutionary War history with hands on curriculum based activities.

Station include:

  • Artillery
  • Musket Drills
  • Spy Activities
  • Rev War Medicine
  • and much more!

Special guests will include:

  • Benjamin Franklin
  • George and Martha Washington
  • General Lachlan McIntosh

This event is open to all public, private, and homeschool students. Admission is $5 per students. One adult admission is free per class or group. Additional adults are $5 each. Speaker Series- Benjamin Franklin

The Speaker Series returns on May 4, 2019 at 11am with Bill Robling giving a first person presentation of the life and times of Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin.

The Speaker Series is free and open to the public and will take place in the Fort Laurens Museum Auditorium.

Character Walk
May 4 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us on a journey through history on our very first Character Walk to be held at Fort Laurens. Visitors will walk the grounds and encounter various characters associated with Fort Laurens including Simon Girty, John Gibson, and some famous Fort Laurens descendants. Admission is $10 per person which includes entrance to the museum. Tour will leave every 20 minutes from 1:00 – 4:00.

Characters will include: General Lachlan McIntosh, Major Vernon, John Heckewelder, Benjamin Franklin, and a famous Fort Laurens descendant.
