History Day Camp for Adults

Ever wanted to attend History Camp only to be told it was only for kids? Well not anymore! Adult campers will explore life on the Ohio Frontier through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and storytelling from costumed historical interpreters. Camp will take place daily from 1pm-4pm. July 16, 17, and 18 will take place in Zoar with July 19 taking place at Fort Laurens. The cost is $25 per adult per day or $85 for all four days and includes an afternoon snack. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 330-874-3011. Reservations are due by July 12.

Speaker Series- John Hiel

The Speaker Series returns on August 17, 2019 at 11am with John Hiel giving a talk on the history of the Moravian and American Indian settlement,  Gnadenhutten.

Archaeology School Day
Oct 11 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Discover archaeology at the Fort Laurens Museum. Throughout the day, learn the trade, tools, and discoveries of archaeologists. Hands-on activities will engage students in archaeological practices including a mock dig, flint knapping, atlatl throwing, cabin construction, lego stratigraphy, mosaic puzzles, and metal detecting. Students will also participate in recreating famous archaeological discoveries. This event is open to all public, private, and homeschool students. Cost for this event is $5 a student. One adult per group is free, each additional adult is $7, and all teachers are free. Reservations are required for the event and can be made by calling 330-874-3011 or 1-800-262-6195. Please register by October 4. This event runs from 9am- 3pm

Fort Laurens Ghost Tours
Oct 25 @ 7:30 pm – Oct 26 @ 8:30 pm

Tour the dark grounds by lantern light and listen to the haunting tales of the ghosts of Fort Laurens. American and British soldiers haunt the grounds, looking for lost souls like them. Tours begin at 7:30 pm and leave the museum every 15 minutes. Space is limited on these tours, and they fill up fast! To make a reservation, call (330) 874-2059. Combo tour with Historic Zoar Village Ghost Tours are available.

Tours are available October 25 and 26, 2019.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 330-874-2059 or 1-800-262-6195. Refunds will not be issued. Proceeds from the Fort Laurens Ghost Tours to towards the preservation and interpretation of Fort Laurens.

Veterans Day Ceremony and Luncheon

Join Fort Laurens Museum as we honor the sacrifices of veterans, both past and present, in this intimate wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot. The program includes an honor and color guard, a keynote speaker, and the wreath laying ceremony held at 11am. Immediately following the ceremony, a lunch provided by of the Friends of Fort Laurens will occur. This event is free and open to the public
